Stockport’s Registry Office
has been relocated within the north wing of Stockport
Town Hall, a grade II listed building. The existing
now redundant banking hall, a large vaulted room,
has been subdivided and converted to accommodate the
main marriage room, reception/meeting areas and offices.
The Edwardian details of the vaulted ceiling and joinery
have been sensitively restored and enhanced to suit
the new facility. The dedicated entrance from Town
Street is via a ramped access and leads into the foyer
and main corridor. A second marriage room, bride’s
room and meeting area are accessed off the corridor
together with disabled WC’s and office accommodation.
