The Nursery is part of the Government's Neighbourhood Nursery Initiative, to provide full day-care places in areas which assist lone parents from disadvantaged areas entering employment. The scheme comprises 7 classrooms for age groups under 2s, 2-3, 3-5 year olds and provides 124 places designed around a glazed central 'street' which gives access to all classrooms and external play areas. The 'street' also provides a controlled play area, which affords a high level of natural light and ventilation. Internal glazed screens are provided to circulation areas and classrooms to provide a high degree of visibility and assist supervision.
